What it means
Code 222 means the job or TSO user was ended by a CANCEL command and no dump was requested. With a dump the code is 122 instead.
The program may be fine. Something or someone outside it decided to stop it: an operator, automation software or a scheduler rule.
Typical causes
- An operator or automation cancelled a job that looked looping or hung.
- The job ran past a schedule window and was stopped.
- A duplicate or wrong job submission was cancelled on purpose.
- A user cancelled their own job from SDSF.
How to fix it
- Ask operations or check the system log for who cancelled the job and why.
- If it was looping or hung, rerun in test with a dump to find where.
- Check whether the step updated files or tables before it was stopped.
- Restart from a checkpoint or rerun from the top as the runbook says.
