What it means
LOCKED means CICS is holding a lock left by a unit of work that failed while in doubt. On WRITEQ TD, IBM says it happens when the queue is defined with WAIT(YES) and WAITACTION(REJECT).
The lock stays until the in-doubt unit of work is resolved.
Typical causes
- A unit of work failed in doubt and still holds the lock.
- A lost connection to a coordinating system during sync point.
How to fix it
- Ask the system programmer to resolve the in-doubt unit of work.
- Check the connection to the coordinating system.
- Code RESP (and RESP2) on the command and test the value with DFHRESP.
