What it means
The queue, or the queue it resolves to, has its get attribute set to inhibited. Messages may still be arriving, but no program can take them off until gets are enabled again. The same reason code is used in the Get Inhibited event message.
Typical causes
- An administrator set GET(DISABLED) on the queue, for example during maintenance.
- An alias queue has gets disabled even though its target queue allows them.
- An automation or monitoring rule disabled gets after an incident.
How to fix it
- Display the queue (DISPLAY QLOCAL or DISPLAY QALIAS) and look at the GET attribute.
- If the block was not intended, enable it again with ALTER QLOCAL(name) GET(ENABLED) or the same on the alias.
- If the block is planned, have the program wait and retry later instead of failing hard.
- Check change records to find out who disabled gets and why.
Example
Illustrative only; names and values are invented.
MQGET failed CompCode=2 Reason=2016 Queue=APP.REQUEST.QUEUE
DISPLAY QLOCAL(APP.REQUEST.QUEUE) GET
QUEUE(APP.REQUEST.QUEUE) GET(DISABLED)
