What it means
When a client connection is set to reconnect automatically, MQ informs a registered event handler with 2544 as reconnect attempts start. It is a warning, not a failure. The program can let MQ continue, change the delay before the next try, or stop the reconnect.
Typical causes
- The queue manager was stopped or failed over.
- The network connection dropped.
- A multi-instance or high availability queue manager moved to another server.
How to fix it
- Treat it as information; log it and let reconnect continue if that suits the program.
- Update program state that depends on the connection, because reconnect can start in the middle of a call.
- If reconnects happen often, investigate the underlying network or queue manager restarts.
- Check reconnect settings, such as the reconnect timeout, are suitable.
